Mairead Small Staid is the author of The Traces (Deep Vellum, 2022), which was a finalist for the inaugural Pattis Family Foundation Creative Arts Book Award. Her work has been published by The Atlantic, The Believer, and The Paris Review, among others, and has received support from MacDowell, the Vermont Studio Center, and Phillips Exeter Academy, where she was the 2017-2018 George Bennett Fellow. A finalist for the 2025 DAG Prize, given to “an emerging prose writer whose work expands the possibilities for American writing,” she lives in New Hampshire.
